This has a devastating impact on climate modification. Nature has a natural way of filtering toxic gases like carbon dioxide from the air. This is done by plant photosynthesis. The best defense against carbon dioxide has been the dense huge forests acting as a filter. By cutting them down, we reduce the ability of the planet to filter out the bad gases while we continue to pump more of the gases into the atmosphere. This formula is bound to cause trouble no matter how you measure it.
Are there ways to prevent climate modification? Yes. We need to kick our oil habit and stop wiping out our forest areas.
